A Pál utcai fiúk (The Boys of Paul Street) is a 1969 American-Hungarian co-production film that is considered a classic in Hungary and one of the most faithful adaptations of its source novel by Molnar Ferenc who lived the last 40 years of his life in the US.
Erno Nemecsek, the main character, is the symbol of self-sacrifice and heroic courage of ordinary people taking responsibility for homeland. His mates do not understand him, push him aside, put him to shame and realize his human greatness only after his death.
The book is a required reading in European schools and also in Israel, Azerbaijan, Mongolia, and in Brazil.
Oh, Bloody Life, a Hungarian film that is written about the 1950's, the spread of communism. It reflects on the heavy emotional toll taken by the repressive Stalin regime. Dorotya Udvaros plays a young operetta singer. She is from a working class family but used to be married to a baron. Her wealth is confiscated and she is deported to the country as an enemy of the communism. The operetta singer is forced to live in a village with farmers and work on the farms like other middle class and upper middle class people were.
The film is a satire but shows exactly how middle and upper class citizens were thrown out of their homes with only a suitcase, boarded on trains that had their windows covered so they wouldn't even know where they were taken. The communist party which did not subscribe to private property immediately moved into the homes and castles of the deportees and considered them as their own.
The Witness (Hungarian: A tanú, also known as Without a Trace), is a 1969 Hungarian political satire comedy film directed by Péter Bacsó, co-written by Bacsó and János Újhegyi, and starring Ferenc Kállai, Lajos Őze, Béla Both, and Lili Monori.
"Banned for over a decade for its outspoken criticism of the post-WWII communist regime in Hungary, Péter Bacsó's 'The Witness' has since then achieved unparalleled cult status in its native land. Known as the best satire about communism, 'The Witness' has become a cult classic, which was also well received by critics and general audiences alike when it was finally released outside of Hungary. Its candid and realistic portrayal of the incompetent communist regime has earned great acclaim for both the director and the film itself when it was shown at Cannes Film Festival in 1981."
A parable about the remarkable resilience of ordinary people choosing morality even in the face of harsh oppression imposed by the prevailing power.
The Fifth Seal poses the following question: are ordinary people, those not born to be rebellious heroes battling the system, who make every attempt to survive oppression quietly, in the shade, able to preserve their moral standing when their life is at stake?

GOP fights Newsom ban on voter ID, hand counts as CA city considers migrant voting
Story by Kenneth Schrupp | The Center Square, Washington Examiner
(The Center Square) - Santa Ana is currently voting on a ballot measure on whether or not to allow undocumented immigrants to vote in all municipal elections.
Last year, California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill banning manual counting of ballots. This year, he signed a bill banning voter ID requirements. Already 16 and 17 year olds, and noncitizens with enrolled students, are able to vote in some school board elections in California.

"The Monterey County Media Literacy Coalition is finding ways to teach us all how to think critically.
Good morning. Like me, you may be reading this newsletter on your phone. Long gone are the days when most of us read most of our news in printed form. Sara Rubin here, thinking about the fast-changing information ecosystem we live in. Some of it is the medium—information moves quickly online, and the expectation of information is now, not tomorrow. Some of it is the message—there is deliberately deceptive information published on the regular, and of course the internet makes it easier to disseminate widely. Some of it is how we, as humans, interact with information: In the world of social media, everyone can be a curator and producer, not just a consumer. I think in general this has had a fabulous effect of elevating people’s voices. It’s also made it harder than ever to discern what is real, and who to trust—and the power comes with certain responsibilities."
".....County city of Pacific Grove’s $66 million in unfunded liabilities, it still demands attention."

Notice the 30,000 - 42,000 increase some of employees received within 2 years from 2020 - 2022.
Are you making 30,000 - 42,000 more then 2 years ago?
While people are barely getting by and living paycheck to paycheck many of our City of Pacific Grove employees are colleting luxurious salary packages.
You need to keep it in mind that our town has less then 15,000 residents and we have very little crime. If you read the Pine Cone, our local publication, we can learn that our police deals mostly with people who turn in lost wallets etc.
Pacific Grove has a $66 Million unfounded pension liability. These salaries and benefits are literally breaking out town. Please read Transparent California 2022 salaries of Pacific Grove city employees.
Yesterday on the Farmers Market a resident said that he doesn't like all the new construction around the city because Pacific Grove is loosing its picturesque Victorian town atmosphere. He was not the first person who said that.
I thought of it and I have to agree with him. My idea is to have a botanical garden like the one I saw in Mendocino. A botanical garden would match the town's atmosphere, allow students from neighboring schools to volunteer, and it would bring visitors to the City.
I would like you to compare the beauty and liveliness of the garden to the unkept dying vegetation at Washington Park (below) and think about which one you would prefer to see.
The owner of the Los Angeles Times is setting the record straight.
After decades of endorsing Democrats for president, the L.A. Times is not endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for president — but that's not because the editorial board did not want to. Rather, Semafor claimed that L.A. Times owner Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong "blocked" the paper from endorsing Harris.

Illegal aliens now have an on-ramp to Medicaid – as many as 22 million of them.
This budding crisis is a major danger to our health care system and American taxpayers. It’s the direct result of the Biden-Harris administration’s immigration and welfare policies and will surely worsen if Kamala Harris wins in November.
Joe Rogan, the most famous podcaster in the world. He is number 1 and number 2. Declining an interview with him is a dangerous trap.
"According to a report by TIME magazine, Rogan's podcast boasts a viewership of an estimated 11 million people per episode, making it Spotify's most popular podcast."
11 million people could have listened to how Harris will fix our economy, but she declined to tell.
The Biden-Harris administration awarded tens of millions of taxpayer dollars to a left-wing nonprofit whose China office is under the supervision of a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) foreign influence operation active in the United States, a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation found.
Rising prices have been a key concern for Americans in recent years and polls suggest a majority of Americans feel worse off than they did four years ago.

About Property Rights
Property Rights ensure a healthy society because they provide a rooted self-interest, require the rule of law and foster interconnected citizenship.
Property Rights are therefore to be spread, not just respected and preserved. Indeed, much of the economic dynamism of the United States is due to our well developed and well defended set of property rights.

Once again, we have the same old story: a Pacific Grove City Council hell bent on squandering tax-payer money on a massive project upwards of $10 Million dollars without adequate vetting. On July 17th the City Council voted 4 – 3 with Joe Amelio, Chaps Poduri, Nick Smith and Mayor Bill Peake voting for and Debby Beck, Lori McDonnell and Luke Coletti voting against moving ahead with the proposed Congress Avenue, Cedar and Sunset Drive Pacific Grove neighborhood roundabout.

In what may be the most significant election in our history, a new, well-funded far left extreme group calling themselves the PG Progressives have been running a slate of DEI candidates making antisemitic comments, mocking people of Christian faith, banning residents from their events and cursing their opponents on social media. Enough!! It’s time for the citizens of Pacific Grove to vigorously exercise their rights and freedoms and vote in people who represent civil discussion, open debate and common sense.

For those of you who do not know me, I did not grow up in a free country. I know all too well that democracy cannot exist in socialism and communism.
In search of freedom, I came to the US in 1989.
My name is Chilla Kartalov. I am a wife, a mother of two boys, and a Controller/Auditor consultant. I am running for City Council in Pacific Grove.
I earned a business degree from California State University Long Beach, and a business certificate from Cornell University. I also studied criminal justice. I paid for my own education.
I am a can-do, fix-it all person. Companies call me for help when they have problems with fraud, change, and growth.
I am one of the very few Americans with zero debt that you will ever meet. Pacific Grove does not need more debt. The City has a 66-million-dollar unfunded pension liability. We need the City of Pacific Grove to be run as a healthy business organization with responsive, competent, and responsible employees.
I run for City Council, so I can apply my 20-plus years of business experience to solve the City’s problems. The City needs to listen to the concerns of residents and spend wisely within its budget.
This is a small town of less than 15,000 people. So, the City cannot afford expensive projects that have questionable value.
People are angry and frustrated, but many are afraid to speak up. I am running to be their voice and to build a better city for all of us.
